For the Water User
This section covers common questions for property owners who are able to connect to the CLFN Water Distribution System and what to expect.
When will my home/business be connected to the new water distribution system?
-
If you are a Curve Lake First Nation Member and the watermain is being installed at the road, you have an option to connect. Businesses will not be connected under the current watermain project, unless otherwise determined through Curve Lake First Nation’s Water Policy. Businesses should contact the Curve Lake First Nations administration office for further details.

Which neighbourhoods or lots will be served by the system?
-
See the water distribution system layout figure. (The Project Page)

Will I have to pay for water?
-
The Curve Lake First Nation Water Policy will outline all water service details and is currently under development. It is the intended that Curve Lake First Nation will not charge for the water usage. Please contact the Curve Lake First Nations administration office for further details.

Will I need to pay for a connection (installation) to the water service?
-
If you are a Curve Lake First Nation Member and the waterman is being installed at the road, you have an option to connect. The connection cost is included as part of the construction contract between Curve Lake and the general contractor. If applicable, a water service agreement must be signed by the home/lot owner.
What happens if my property is not directly on a main line or branch line — how far will the service extend?
-
The water service connection is limited to 150 metres.

What pressure and flow can I expect at my tap under normal conditions?
-
The normal, high flow, and fire flow design pressures are listed below. All homes connected will require an adjustable pressure reducing valve that will be initially set at an operating pressure not more that your existing system pressure.
-
Normal Operating Pressures – 275 kPa (40 psi) to 700 kPa (100 psi).
-
Maximum Day Demand Pressures – 350 to 480 kPa (50 to 70 psi).
-
Maximum Day Demand plus Fire Flows – 150 kPa (21.7 psi).
I don’t remember being asked if I wanted to connect to the CLFN WDS, how do I know if I was missed and who do I reach out to if I am interested in connecting?
-
During the preliminary design phase, a door-to-door survey was completed to collect data as to how many potential CLFN Member homes might be interested in connecting to a communal water supply system. If you were not surveyed and would like to be connected to the water supply system, and you are a registered Curve Lake First Nation Member, please have a look at the watermain distribution map (The Project page) to confirm that the proposed watermain will be installed on the road in front of your residence. If it is, then contact the Curve Lake First Nation administration office to be put on the list for signing a water service agreement.
What if I am unsure about connecting to the water service right now, what should I do?
-
If you are eligible to connect to the water service, but are still undecided, you should be contacted to fill out a water service agreement. This will allow for a service connection to be stubbed and ready for future connection if desired. If the decision for connection is not made before construction is completed, the extension of the service line, and connection costs are assumed to be completed at the owner’s expense or as outlined in the Curve Lake First Nation’s Water Policy.
